Assessment of nutritional status and quality of life in patients with pancreatic head cancer

The aim of this study is to evaluate the nutritional status and quality life (QOL) in patients with unresectable pancreatic head cancer. This a retrospective assessment that included different parameters namely: current weight, weight loss, body mass index (BMI), bilirubin level (BT), serum albumin (ALB) C-reactive protein (CRP). Protein-calorie malnutrition was defined by risk (NRI) general digestive disease score (GIQL). 50 (60% men, 40% women) mean age 61.8±13.5 years. 32 had locally advanced tumors 16 metastatic tumors. All significant loss [median 24.9% (2%-37%) stable pre-disease weight], BMI less than 18.5 kg/m2 66% (18.28 ±3.6 kg/m 2 ). Bilirubin greater 200mg/l 44%, ALB 35 g/l 92% CRP 6 mg/l 84% patients. Severe undernutrition present 73% moderate 27%. GIQL satisfactory These results show cancer has serious impact on status, hence need manage these order mitigate exhaustion improve their life.
